What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a treatment that exfoliates your skin and gets rid of dirt and vellus hair, better known as 'peach fuzz'. It's different from dermabrasion, where an aesthetician or doctor uses a high-speed rotating brush to exfoliate the skin. With dermaplaning, they use a scalpel or a tool called a dermatome. The doctor or aesthetician moves the dermatome, which looks like an electric razor, back and forth to scrape off the top layer of dead skin. Leaving your face peach fuzz free. What Happens During Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning treatments can be very relaxing. Next, an expert aesthetician will glide the surgical scalpel across your skin, holding it at a specific angle to remove fine hairs and scrape away the dead skin and embedded oil that can cause your skin to look dull and make wrinkles more visible. Once the treatment is complete, special moisturisers and other skincare solutions will be applied to minimize any minor redness or irritation and rehydrate your skin.

However, results of dermaplaning aren't permanent. The procedure aims to clear away up to three weeks worth of dead skin cells. After three weeks to a month, your results will have faded.
