AccommodationDating back to as early as 1180, it’s safe to say Samlesbury Hall is steeped in enough history to satisfy every holidaymakers hankering for history. Once a grand family home, the hall has since been restored and renovated to make it the stunning stately home it is today. During your time on the estate you’ll be staying in one of the quirky yet cosy Shepherd’s Huts. Think hotel glamour meets the fun of glamping, these fabulous huts make for a truly unique escape from it all. Each hut has been handmade and decked out with fire pit (and you'll have a kit to get you started on the camp fire), high-quality furnishings to ensure you have a comfortable stay. With plush double beds made from European Oak, electricity and an en-suite bathroom filled with soft towels and luxurious toiletries, you’ll forget that you’re not staying in the confines of a conventional hotel. If an evening under the stars has worked up an appetite, choose to upgrade your stay to include a full English breakfast in the grand hall (subject to a supplement).
What to doYoung or old, Samlesbury Hall hosts a vast array of events and activities guaranteed to entertain every happy holidaymaker. Keep your wits about you while taking a guided tour through the grounds, learning about the Tudors and witch tails along the way, or visit an exhibition and enjoy an evening full of Shakespearean music. There is also a wide variety of animals kept on the estate, including rabbits, goats, sheep and hens, which can all be visited during your time at the hall. If you plan on exploring the region, why not head to nearby Preston, Blackburn, or even Manchester, complete with the stunning John Rylands Library, Manchester Cathedral, and the Museum of Science and Industry? Otherwise, Samlesbury is also home to three bee hives which stock the shop with honey so why not take a trip to the onsite Bee and Heritage Centre where visitors can learn more about the working lives of honeybees and their importance to the natural world.
