The Tina Turner Musical
From humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her transformation into the global Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Tina Turner didn’t just break the rules, she rewrote them. This new stage musical, presented in association with Tina Turner herself, reveals the untold story of a woman who dared to defy the bounds of her age, gender and race.
One of the world’s best-selling artists of all time, Tina Turner has won 11 Grammy Awards and her live shows have been seen by millions, with more concert tickets sold than any other solo performer in music history.
TINA – The Tina Turner Musical follows the life and career of one of music’s biggest stars. Born Anna Mae Ruddock in the tiny Southern town of Nutbush, Tennessee, she escapes from a difficult home life by spending nights in St. Louis nightclubs, in particular, Club Manhattan where she meets Ike Turner, frontman of the Kings of Rhythm. Renamed Tina Turner, her recording career with Ike (who would later become her husband) goes from strength to strength including hits such as “River Deep, Mountain High” and “Nutbush City Limits”.
Following her split with Ike, Tina’s career really took off with internationally recognised songs like “What’s Love Got to Do With It, “We Don’t Need Another Hero” and of course “Simply The Best”.
