You'll spend five out of the eight nights lodging in popular local hotels while exploring the surrounding areas, but for the remaining nights of the trip you will be fully immersed in nature! DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN CUSCO - INKA MUSEUM AND KORICANCA
You’ll get a shuttle from the airport to Tandapata Boutique Hotel , where you’ll spend the morning resting to adapt to the altitude, approximately 3400 meters (11,000 feet). In the afternoon you’ll visit the Inka Museum, the temple of Koricancha and the famous Sun Temple of Qosqo.
DAY 2: CHINCHERO (TEXTILE INTERPRETATION CENTER) - MORAY - OLLANTAYTAMBO (incl. BREAKFAST)
You’ll visit the ‘rainbow village’ of Chinchero, home of the ruins of the royal palace of the Inka Túpac Inca Yupanqui, and see the beautiful colonial church, unique for its interior artwork and imagery. Then, you’ll be given an introduction to the art of Andean weaving, and enjoy a traditional lunch. In the afternoon you'll continue to the ancient agricultural terraces of Moray before visiting the "living" Inka town of Ollantaytambo. You'll spend another night at the Tandapata Boutique Hotel.
DAY 3: CUSCO - MOLLEPATA - SORAYPAMPA (incl. BREAKFAST, LUNCH & DINNER)
Leaving early, you’ll travel by bus to the high mountain town of Mollepata (2900m) where you’ll start your ascent to Soraypampa via panoramic viewpoints of valleys and snow-covered mountains. After a Peruvian lunch you’ll continue to Humantay Lake and in the evening you’ll return to camp for a ready-prepared dinner.
DAY 4: SORAYPAMPA - CHALLWAY (incl. BREAKFAST, LUNCH & DINNER)
You’ll have a nutritious breakfast in camp before hiking through dry landscapes to snowy peaks and tropical areas. After lunch in Huayracmachay you will hike to the camp at Challway (2920m) where you can recuperate and refuel during dinner.
DAY 5: CHALLWAY - LA PLAYA - LUCMABAMBA (incl. BREAKFAST, LUNCH & DINNER)
After sunrise you’ll walk toward Playa Sahuayaco, past a town called ‘Forest Cloudy Brow’ where waterfalls, fruit trees and wonderful wildlife reign supreme - you may even spot Peru’s national bird, the Cock of the Rocks! After lunch you’ll continue the walk to get to your last campsite at Lucmabamba.
DAY 6: LUCMABAMBA - LLAPTA PATA - AGUAS CALIENTES (incl. BREAKFAST, LUNCH & DINNER)
Gradual hike towards Llapta Pata, a beautiful archaeological site with links to Machu Picchu and Sayacmarka. After exploring this ancient Inca site, you’ll descend to the hydroelectric dam and Aguas Calientes where you’ll stay overnight at Waman Hotel.
DAY 7: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO (incl. BREAKFAST)
You’ll start early, catching one of the first buses up to Machu Picchu, as the Inca city is at its finest at dawn. The Inca city is quietest very early in the morning and with the best lighting for fantastic pictures and enchanted views of the surrounding landscape. There will be a short guided tour around the city, with access included, to explain some of its history and visit the most important features. Finishing the tour you will have free time to continue to explore, before returning to Cucso by train to stay back at the Tandapata Boutique Hotel.
DAY 8: FREE DAY IN CUSCO CITY (incl. BREAKFAST)
Free day to explore the old capital of the Inca Empire, the legendary navel of the world. Colonial buildings, artisan stalls and plenty of fine Andean cuisine await you, before a final night at the Tandapata Boutique Hotel!
DAY 9: WALKING TOUR (incl. BREAKFAST)
On your final day you have the choice of relaxing in the hotel or going on a walking tour of the downtown area, visiting the Plaza de Armas, Plaza Nazarenas, San Blas neighbourhood, the twelve angle stone and the San Pedro local market, before a transfer takes you to the airport for your departure to Lima.
