40 days, 40 nights, 40 great deals – at least 40% off the price
February 15th, 2010Some of us observe Lent, some of us cut down on vices and all of us love a bargain
A brand new discount site is launching a ‘give something up, try something new’ campaign to support Londoners giving up their favourite treats during the Lent period.
Wowcher.co.uk, a brand new Collective Buying Power website has lined up forty days’ worth of unusual London experiences, available for a minimum of 40 per cent off their RRP.
“London is jam-packed with things to see and do, but the average Londoner rarely takes the time to see and do them,” says Nick Brummitt, the brains behind Wowcher.co.uk.
“This campaign is about reintroducing Londoners to their city – and easing away chocolate-withdrawal symptoms.”
Throughout Lent, great things to do such as a helicopter flight over London, a Ghost Bus Tour or even a haircut and blow dry at a top London salon - worth £50 for as little as £10 - will be posted onto the site daily, encouraging visitors to sign up and grab a bargain.
Each deal requires a minimum number of customers for the deal to go ahead – this is the logic behind Collective Buying Power.
As a result, web-savvy customers get busy using social networking sites to get their friends involved.
“Because Collective Buying Power sites such as Wowcher.co.uk can put thousands of people in touch with businesses looking for customers, we can negotiate impressive discounts,” says Brummitt.
“The trend has already taken the US by storm and it looks like a second wave is about to hit the UK. Britain went voucher mad last year and we are confident that 2010 is the year of the wowcher.”

Wowcher launches in London bringing group buying power to the UK
January 16th, 2010Wowcher launches a new a “Social Commerce” site that uses collective buying power to offer a daily, unbeatable deal on great things to do in London.
www.wowcher.co.uk is a revolutionary new discounting concept – a website that offers major discounts on anything from dining out to spa days, cooking classes to skydiving.
Wowcher negotiates amazing discounts with London businesses by guaranteeing an agreed volume of sales.
Visitors receive discounts of up to 70% on the featured deal of the day. Wowcher uses its own “tipping point” technology, allowing people to sign up for a deal and only be charged if the tipping point (minimum number of customers required to get the days deal) is reached.
Wowcher is being launched in London bringing some of the capital’s best known and unique venues to the site. Our aim is to make Londoners tourists in their own city and encourage all visitors to enjoy one of the world’s most exciting capital cities. Wowcher will expand to other major cities across the UK during 2010.
The concept took the US by storm last year and is set to be 2010’s biggest consumer trend. Facebook, Twitter and other social network users create a viral buzz to ensure the deal reaches the “tipping point”.
“For businesses Wowcher is risk-free with no long-term contract or out-of-pocket costs whatsoever. Businesses pay nothing up front to participate, they simply negotiate the number of customers required for the deal to proceed,” stated Nick Brummitt CEO of Wowcher Limited. “With some deals topping 3,000 new customers in a single day in the US, the popularity of online group purchasing will undoubtedly take off in the UK”.
