Upon arrival in Cairo, you will be met at the airport and transferred in an air conditioned car to your overnight hotel, the 4*
Oasis Hotel, where you can acclimatise to the Egyptian heat, head out to explore Cairo in the evening or just get some rest before the start of the tour the following morning. Throughout the tour (itinerary below) you will stay either in the Oasis Hotel in Cairo or the 5*
Pyramisa Hotel in
Luxor, or sleep on an overnight bus or train (with reclining seats) between the two, with upgrades to a sleeper carriage on offer.
During your time in Egypt, you will have the opportunity to see vast swathes of Egyptian cultural heritage, from the iconic death mask of Tutankhamun to the Sphinx and Pyramids at Giza to the Valley of the Kings at Luxor, on the banks of the river Nile. On most days, there are options to upgrade to include exciting extra tours including a Hot Air Balloon ride over Luxor for an additional £80 per person, a day trip to Alexandria and a River Nile dinner cruise.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive into Cairo
Overnight: Cairo – 4* hotel.
Day 2: Cairo. Museum & Pyramids tour
After breakfast, you'll visit the Egyptian Museum in central Cairo, home to the fantastic Tutankhamun exhibit. Then it’s a short trip to Giza to visit the Sphinx and the Great Pyramids. In the evening, you'll be transferred to the station for the overnight train to Luxor (reclining seats)
Overnight: On board train or Coach
Day 3: Arrive in Luxor
After breakfast, explore Luxor's markets, visit the Mummification Museum, take a felucca trip on the river Nile, or take a swim in the hotel pool. In the early evening, you'll have the chance to enjoy a walking tour of Luxor Temple which is beautiful lit up at night.
Overnight: Luxor – 4/5* hotel
Day 4: Luxor. East and West bank tours
After breakfast, enjoy a tour of Luxor’s West Bank, home to the Valley of the Kings and one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. In the afternoon, you'll visit the enormous temple complex at Karnak.
Overnight: On board train or coach

Day 5: Cairo. Free day
Arrive back into Cairo this morning and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore Cairo as you choose or you may take an optional day trip, including a city tour in Cairo (£35pp surcharge) which visits the Citadel and Mohamed Ali Mosque as well as the bustling market streets of Khan El Khalili bazaar.

Day 6: Cairo. Departure transfer to airport
After breakfast, you'll get free time in Cairo for some final sightseeing or shopping until we pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the airport to catch your departure flight.
Please note:
Some departures may use an overnight coach transfer between Cairo and Luxor. This will be done when official government travel advice does not permit travel through certain provinces between Cairo and Luxor on the route taken by the train through the Nile Valley, or if the train services are not running, or we feel that at that time the coach journey will provide a better experience. The alternative route heads from Cairo to the Red Sea and then drives south along the coast to Hurghada before heading back inland to Luxor.
