General Questions

Q: What is cashback?

A: When you visit a retailer's website through Wowcherching we record your visit. You can browse the retailer's website and purchase as normal. The retailer gives us a commission when you purchase, we give this commission back to you in the form of cashback. You can spend this on Wowcher or transfer it to your bank or PayPal account.

Q: How do I join?

A: Simply click on the Sign Up button or the Sign Up link at the top of every page to go to the registration page. Here we'll ask you to enter your name and address, then you're done.

Q: Is cashback guaranteed?

A: Wowcherching allows you to earn cashback on tracked purchases from retailers. To qualify for cashback, the retailer must confirm that the purchase is tracked, genuine and successful and the resulting cashback payment must be received by us. We do our best to make sure that your cashback is paid but we're afraid that cashback and payment periods can't be guaranteed as they are at the discretion of the retailers.

If your purchase is declined we can investigate this further if you submit a manual cashback claim. By doing this we can go back to the retailer to find out why they declined the cashback.

Q: How do I earn cashback?

A: Simply visit the retailer's websites by clicking on any of the 'Get Cashback' buttons. Once on the retailer's website you can purchase as normal. We'll receive notification of any purchases and award you the cashback you're due. If you are not logged in at the point you visit the retailer’s website, you must login or register on Wowcherching from the device that you used to visit the retailer’s website within 7 days of the visit for your cashback to be attributed to your account. Please note that if you have cleared your cookies in this time or you are using a different device, your visit will not be tracked and you will not be eligible for cashback.

Q: Are there any exceptions?

A: Some retailers don't give cashback on certain products or services. These exceptions are written in the terms and conditions for each retailer. You can find these on the right hand side of the retailerpage on the Wowcherching site. If you were not logged in at the point you visited the retailer’s website, you can only earn cashback if you login or register on the Wowcherching site within 7 days and provided that you are using the same device and have not cleared your cookies in the time since you visited the retailer’s website.

Q: Can anyone join Wowcherching?

A: You must be 18 years or older and live in the UK.

Q: Problems logging in?

A: Firstly reset your password HERE.

A: If you do that and the Wowcherching site tells that you don't have an account - but you know you have registered - then it may be that there was an error in the email address. Get in touch and we'll sort it out for you.

Q: I'm experiencing problems using a voucher code

Cashback transactions

Q: How can I find out what's going on with my cashback?

A: Login and click on the My Account link at the top every page. Once in your account click on the My Cashback Activity tab.

Q: Cashback transaction status:

  • Tracked - we have received notification that you've purchased something from one of our retailers. The retailer must validate the transaction.
  • Confirmed - the retailer has confirmed that your transaction is successful and genuine and that you are due the cashback. Once your transaction is confirmed your Wowcher Wallet will be credited with your cashback and the bonus amount, now you can spend it on Wowcher.
  • Payable - we received the cashback payment from the retailer. You can now transfer the funds to your bank or PayPal account.
  • Declined - the retailer has deemed your cashback invalid. This could for any of the reasons given below in the 'Why has my cashback been declined' section.

Q: How will I know if I've earned cashback?

A: You will be sent an email once we have been notified of a tracked cashback transaction. If you went through to a retailer’s website as a temporary user (you will know this because you will have been prompted to login or register when you returned to Wowcherching) you will need to have logged in or registered (using the same device) within 7 days of your visit to the retailer’s website to be notified.

Q: I bought something and my cashback hasn't tracked?

A: In most instances your cashback transaction will be tracked within a couple of hours but it may take up to 3 days. If 3 days have passed then you can submit a manual claim and we'll raise it with the retailer. If you went through to a retailer’s website as a temporary user (you will know this because you will have been prompted to login or register when you returned to Wowcherching) you will need to have logged in or registered (using the same device) within 7 days of your visit to claim cashback.

Q: Why are none of purchases being tracked?

A: This is usually because of the settings for your internet browser settings. Please excuse us for getting a bit techie but here's a few things that should fix it.

N.B. If you are visiting retailers’ websites as a temporary user (you will know this because you will have been prompted to login or register when you returned to Wowcherching) you need to login or register to be able to see your tracked purchases. You need to do this using the same device that you used to visit the retailer’s site within 7 days of any visit to a retailer (provided that you haven’t cleared your cookies in the time since you visited the retailer’s website).

For Internet Explorer Users:

Adjust the Security Level

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Click on Tools - Internet Options - Security.
  • Change the 'Security level' to Medium.

Adjust the Privacy Settings

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Click on Tools - Internet Options - Privacy.
  • Change the 'Security level' to Low.

Disable the pop-up blocker

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Click on Tools - Internet Options - Privacy.
  • Make sure there is not a tick next to 'Turn on Pop-up Blocker'

Clear your cookies

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Click on Tools - General
  • Click on 'Delete' in the Browsing History section.

For Firefox Users:

Enable your Cookies

  • Open Firefox
  • Click on Tools - Options - Privacy.
  • Make sure that 'Accept cookies from sites' is ticked and that they are kept until they expire

Enable JavaScript

  • Open Firefox
  • Click on Tools - Options - Content.
  • Make sure that 'Enable JavaScript' is ticked.

Disable pop-up blockers

  • Open Firefox
  • Click on Tools - Options - Content.
  • Make sure that 'Block pop-up windows' isn't ticked.

Clear cookies

  • Open Firefox
  • Click on Tools - Clear Recent History.
  • Change the time range to clear to 'Everything' and click on 'Clear Now'.

For Google Chrome Users:

Enable cookies

  • Open Chrome.
  • Click the three horizontal lines in the top right hand corner of your browser.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Click on 'Show advanced settings'.
  • Click on 'Content Settings' in the Privacy section
  • Click on 'Allow local data to be set'.

Clear cookies

  • Open Chrome.
  • Click the three horizontal lines in the top right hand corner of your browser.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Click on 'Show advanced settings'.
  • Click on 'clear browsing data' in the Privacy section.

Q: Why has my cashback tracked at a lower amount than I was expecting?

A: This might be because you haven't accounted for VAT and delivery charges, most retailers don't pay cashback for these.

Some transactions track at the wrong rate initially but will be updated when the retailer confirms them.

Q: I have a tracked cashback transaction, when can I spend it?

A: Once the retailer has confirmed that your transaction was successful and genuine the status of your cashback will change to 'Confirmed'. It will then be credited to your Wowcher Wallet along with the special bonus and you are able to use this credit to buy Wowcher deals. This normally takes about 28 days but may take longer.

Q: Why has my cashback been declined?

A: There are various reasons why a retailer has declined your cashback:

  • The purchase was returned, cancelled or the order amended
  • The purchase was not completed wholly online
  • You didn't clear your cookies before you made your purchase and another referrer has been awarded the cashback commission (e.g. a price comparison site)
  • You didn't comply with the terms and conditions of the retailer.
  • A voucher code or gift code not authorised by us was used
  • The retailer has ceased trading or has gone into administration.

Q: What happens if my cashback is declined?

A: You can dispute this by submitting a manual claim.

Transferring your cashback funds

Q: When can I transfer my money into my bank or PayPal account?

A: Once we have received the cashback amount from the retailer your cashback transaction will change to Payable. This is normally about 3 months from the date of purchase but it can be longer for some retailers. You can now transfer this money to your bank or PayPal account by clicking on the Transfer Funds button in the My Account pages.

Q: I want to transfer my cashback, is it safe to put in my bank details?

A: Yes it is, we encrypt them before we store them in our database and only you have access to them.

Q: I want to transfer my cashback but the amount is less than I was expecting?

A: You can only transfer your payable cashback, this doesn't include any bonuses associated with those transactions. To see your payable amount login and go to the My Cashback Activity page in the My Account section.

Q: How long does it take to receive my money after I have transferred the funds?

A: We do a payment run once a week, it can take up 10 working days for the payment to clear in your bank account and up to 3 working days to appear in your PayPal account.

Q: I have requested a transfer to my bank account but it hasn't appeared?

A: Please allow 10 working days for the funds to clear in your bank account. If this time has elapsed please contact us.

Q: Why does it say in My Wowcher Wallet that I have lost some cashback bonus?

A: When you transfer funds to your bank or PayPal account you lose the bonus.

Q: I have spent some of my cashback and bonus on a Wowcher, what happens if I want a refund?

A: Please contact enquiries@wowcher.co.uk to request your refund. You will be issued with refund credit to the value of the full cashback amount and bonus amount.

Manual Cashback Claim

Q: How do I raise a manual claim?

A: Click on the manual claim link and enter the details as requested. You must wait for at least 3 days after you made your purchase and cannot claim for a transaction that occurred more than 6 months ago. This may be different for some retailers; if that is the case you will be informed whilst you're submitting the claim.

Q: I want to raise a manual claim but the retailer I visited isn't in the list, why not?

A: We record the date and time every time you click through to one of our retailer's website. You can only raise a manual claim for retailers that we have recorded a visit for. You can see all of the retailers that you've visited on the Visits to Merchants page in the My Cashback Activity section of your account.

Q: I have raised a manual claim but have not heard anything?

A: It can take up to 75 days for a manual claim to be resolved. If your claim has been outstanding for longer please contact customer services.
